How do I make a post?

In any forum, such as Main Discussion, click the Create New Topic link (top right).

Or in any topic click Post Reply (top and bottom right of each topic).
How do I quote a post for reply?

Can I edit my own posts?

Yes, you can edit your posts. To edit your post, click the "EDIT" link below the post you want to edit. Once you are finished editing your post, click the “Save Edit” at the bottom of the screen.
How do you close a topic? Can I reopen the topic after I close it?

Topics can only be closed by the individual who started the topic. If you are the topic starter you can close the topic by editing any post within that topic. At the bottom of the editing screen is an OK to close box which you need to select. Once you select that box, select the “Close Topic” button. This will close your topic and prevents anyone from replying to it.

Once your topic is closed it cannot be reopened.
Can I delete/erase a topic I started?

No, you cannot delete/erase a topic once you’ve submitted it.

You do have the ability to edit your posts. Click the "EDIT" link on the bottom right corner of your post. Once you’ve edited your post, click the “Save Edit” button.
Why did my topic get moved?

RunRyder moves topics, usually within the first 24 hours of posting, for several different reasons.

The main reason topics are moved is to place the topic in a more specific forum. Topics are frequently placed in the Main Discussion that would be better served in a different forum. For example, an electric helicopter topic would be moved off the Main Discussion to the e-Electric General Discussion. RunRyder offers the option of surfing and seeing only electrics and many members view Electric forums only.

If the topic title points to a specific model (for example: Century Swift) it will be moved to the e-Century Hummingbird & Swift forum. Many vendors only visit their specific forum therefore your topic would be better addressed in the product specific forum.

The Main Discussion is not a place for Classified deals that have gone bad. Warning other RR members of a bad guy should be placed in the CLASSIFIEDS - Feedback - Scams forum.

Classified topics may also be moved if the item being sold belongs in a different category or if the item sold is not RC helicopter related. RunRyder only allows Classifieds for non RC helicopter related items to be placed in CLASSIFIEDS - Trade or Wanted forum or the e-Classifieds Elec-Trade Wanted forum. The top of each classified forum explains this rule.

**If you believe your topic was moved and you are unable to locate it, click the logo located at the top of every page. This will display all your topics and their location.
How do I display a photo in a forum post?

There are several different ways you can add a photo to a post. The first way is to use the MyFastPhoto toolbar. This is a fast and easy way to insert images directly into a post. When creating a post, browse and select an individual photo or a zip file containing multiple photos off your hard drive. Once you select your photo or zip file, click the "Upload" button. Only photos with the extensions of jpg, gif, or png can be uploaded using MyFastPhoto. FastPhotos are processed and displayed as following:

Once the photo is uploaded it will automatically be displayed in your Photo Cache. You must check the Add Photo Cache box in the Options category and then click the “Preview” button to have your rrFastPhoto inserted into your post.

The second way you can add photos to a post is by uploading photos to My Gallery. Once the photo(s) is located in your gallery, follow the steps shown below:

Use the MY GALLERY link at the top of any
RR page to upload and manage your photos.

The following screen pops up with your selection.

Then you insert photo cache with create new topic, post reply or edit post.

Please note that your browser must be able to preview your message composition for photo
cache to work. If not then click each photo cache thumbnail and copy and paste code displayed.

Also see Automatic Page Display to fix message preview problem.

You can also use pictures from other member's gallery by following the same steps above.

**You can add photos from another website to your post by following the steps here:
How do I post a full size image instead of a thumbnail?

First, right click on the full size image you wish to use in your post. Select "Properties" and copy the complete URL address. Then go about creating a post as you normally would.

When you get to the place where you would like the image to appear, click the IMG format button. A small window will open. Paste the URL into that window and click "OK". A special HTTP code will be inserted into your post. Caution - do not alter the URL or it will not work. Then just finish your post and submit it. Your full size photo should automatically appear in your post.
How do I add a photo from another website to a post I’m creating?

Once you find the photo you want to use from another website, put your pointer over that photo and right click on it. When you do this you will see a list of options. At the very bottom you should see 'Properties'. Left click on "Properties". Under the 'General' tab, look for 'Address (URL)'. Copy the complete address URL.

Next go to RunRyder and create a post as you normally would. When you get to the place where you would like the image to appear, click the IMG format button. A small window will open. Paste the URL into that window and click "OK". A special HTTP code will be inserted into you post. Caution - do not alter the URL or it will not work. Then just finish your post and submit it. Your photo should automatically appear in your post.
Post photos in "Wide View" for a better fit.

When creating a new topic or when you post reply, in the Options category you have the opportunity to select Wide View. Selecting "Wide View" displays large photos in wide format. (700 pixel width recommended). See example below:

After you select Wide View, submit your post and your image will appear in wide format.
How do I embed a YouTube video into my post?

You first need to locate the video ID that YouTube assigned the video you want to use. For example this video's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi7G-VzU2r4) ID is: gi7G-VzU2r4

Then when you create a new topic or a post reply, add the RR youtube tags to your video id. For example: This will embed the video into your post.

**Sharing videos of your hobby is what this is about. Videos that display commercial watermarks and or hobby advertisements will be pinked and closed. An opening title listing pilot name and a simple list of parts is OK.
How do I post my Event on RunRyder?

First, go to the RunRyder Event Summary. Click the Events, Shows and Fun Flies forum link at the top right. Then "Create New Topic" under the Events, Shows and Fun Flies forum.

After you "Submit New Topic", this image will appear below your event topic:

Enter your event's information and it will be included in the RunRyder Event Summary. If you need help including an image in your event topic, please see How do I display a photo in a forum post?

**There is no RunRyder Event Calendar. Instead of a calendar, RunRyder lists all events in date order. The event list is located at the top of every page (74 EVENTS).
How do I create a URL link to something I typed?

You need to use the URL format code button located above the text box. The URL format button works two ways. The first way is to highlight the words that are to become a link. Then click the "URL" format button and input the URL address. Then click “OK”.

The second way is to first click the "URL" button, input the URL address and then click "OK". The URL button will turn pink. Then type the link words inline. Once you are done typing the words you wish to be the link, click the pink "URL" button again. This will make the link active.

To use the format code buttons JavaScript must be enabled.
To learn how to enable JavaScript on your computer- click here.
Are there any special codes/tags I can use to format my posts?

Yes, by using Format Code. There are several options to format your posts and messages. For the most part, posts will contain plain text. On occasion you can emphasize certain words or phrases by making them bold (B), italic (I), underlined (U), or colored (RED, GREEN, BLUE). Smilies icons can be used to convey emotion. You can also add pictures to your message by using the IMG format button.

For more information about Format Code, click here.
What is Format Code?

Format code is a tool to help design your message using different features. To learn more about Format Code click here.

The Format Code doesn’t work for me.

To use the format code buttons, JavaScript must be enabled.

To correctly use the Format Code buttons, you must first highlight the text you wish to change and then select the format button. You can also format your message by first selecting the format button you wish to use. The button will then turn pink. Then type whatever you wish to be formatted. After you are finished typing, click on the same button or the 'Close Tags' button. You must click on the same button again or the 'Close Tags' button to have the format feature displayed.
What is MyFastPhoto?

MyFastPhoto is a fast and easy way to insert images directly into a post or private message. When creating a post or pm, browse and select an individual photo or a zip file containing multiple photos off your hard drive. RunRyder back end processing will unzip and process all files uploaded. Only photos with the extensions of jpg, gif, or png can be uploaded using MyFastPhoto. 25MB is the maximum file size for all four upload types. After processing, FastPhotos are displayed as following:

When you click on a FastPhoto thumbnail like the one above, a larger image without the stamp will be displayed.

You can view all the FastPhotos you’ve uploaded to RunRyder two ways. First you can view them by clicking the "MyFastPhoto" link above Options when you create a private message, new topic or a post reply. You can also view your FastPhotos by going to MY GALLERY and clicking on the MFP link next to DISPLAY ALL.

*Your FastPhoto Collection is private. Unless you add your FastPhoto to a post or pm, no other members will be able to view it.
What are Smilies?

Smilies are small graphical icons which you can insert into your messages to convey an emotion or feeling, such as a joke or embarrassment. For example, if you enter a sarcastic comment, rather than type 'that was a joke', you could simply insert the 'wink' smilie.

If you have used email or internet chat systems, you will probably be familiar with the concept of smilies already. Certain combinations of text characters are converted into smilies. For example: :) is converted into a smiling face.

To prevent the text in your message from being converted into smilies, check the Disable Smilies Option before making a post.
What is Subscription Email Notification?

If you “Create New Topic” or “Post Reply” to an existing topic, you can choose to be notified by email when someone else replies. This feature is checked by default in the Options category below the post text box.

You can also subscribe to receive email notification without posting to a forum or existing topic by clicking the "Subscribe to This Topic/Forum" link displayed at the bottom of the page. Email notifications will be sent to you when there is new activity in your subscribed forums and topics.

You can adjust how frequently you receive email notifications by going to myHome - Edit Options (Messaging, Subscriptions & Notification).
