If you hold your head tight, how many degrees can you turn the tail? On my current logo, I'm getting something like 30 degrees, which seems like way too much. I don't have my other 600 close to compare... I took the main gear off, and it seems like there is simply space for that metal bar to move. This heli is used, so I can't tell you if the slop has changed...

the front tr pin does not fit through the main shaft tight, to observe this pyhsically hold the front tr pulley, then do as you say you will see there will be little to no movement, the play as you see is the movement of the retaining pin moving inside the main shaft hole for alignment, this is of no concern. If this heli is in fact used I would suggest checking to see that you have the newest 4059 front tr pulley as it is much more beefed up, it should look like this if pervious owner updated the part.

it looks like that, but I think it might have been worn out a bit. I didn't think anything happened, but I autoed the heli down ( intentionally), and I might have touched the tail, although it seemed clean to me ( was in weeds/long grass...). the play is actually in the pin/plastic gear, it's like the gear is just a touch too big.

well in such case I would get a new one, and ensure you are getting the new one from vendor you order from. The newest ones are much beefier and tighter tolerances to the pin as well.

Also do not forgot that the pin in the tail section where the plastic hex is can have freeplay. Both my helis have a slight amount.
