I live in Northern MN and fly all winter long with gloves. Yes it gets cold, yesterday we had a high of 12! When it is below zero, I get everything ready in a heated garage, run outside and fly, and when my fingers, toes, and cheeks are numb, I go back in to heat up. I do that about 20 times a day on the weekends!!! Transmitter Mits are for Wussies!!!! LOL

Fly, Fly, and Fly some more!!!

I have this on the way.

I am thinking of adding this inside to make it work better.
I'm looking for low voltage heating elements to line inside.

Does anyone have a lead on where I can get 12v or lower heating elements?

Ray:

That looks like a serious hardware.
I don't think I can fly below 35deg no matter what. Without a hand warmer, we can't fly below 45-49deg. Hopefully, we can get down to 35-40 with the RaydioWarm mitt.

I was hoping to see Kyle's name in Align Cup (Nick Maxwell is in) master class.

Benny - I was reading a thread at HF - and the guy put tail light light bulbs in his homemade mitt/ box (with even a computer fan to circulate the heat) - and he commented that it was to much heat and he took one bulb out.

That sounded like an easy and cheap solution to me. I was planning on trying it (just the bulb)... should I decide to brave the cold these days and get a Raydiowarm also. For now - the Sim is making me happy... but I am getting antsy to try out some new moves

Hey Benny, Kyle really wanted to do it. He still does but the problem is that the event is in the middle of the week and I can not pull him out of school for that many days. Fortunately we are making the Phoenix event and the E-fest.

Brent:

I was reading the heated socks reviews on Carbela's. They were mostly negative and say it does not work well. It looks like the sock warmer is made for 2 1.5v cells. I may try higher voltage and see if it gets better. Rip out the toe area and attach to inside.

Ray:

Yup! Weekday competition is hard for school kids.

RaydioWarm

Horizon carries them but they are out. I'm getting it directly from www.raydiowarm.com as I can't wait for Horizon to get them in stock.

I live up in Alaska and just use thin cotton gloves that I got in Korea when I was up there and bought it from a salesman in the subway for $2.00. They are some what similar to a white cotton work glove that is a bit thinner.

This year I'm flying in Hawaii since October 23 to January 13, but will be flying in the cold again soon.
