I've seen an article of a heated tx enclosure that you wear. It was done by a Russian modeler some time ago. Does anyone have similar to keep flying in the winter time? Standard tx mittens tend to fog up and bother finger movements.

Let see some pics.

At 39deg with 5-10mph wind blowing, my eyes were watering and my fingers were good for 3min tops.

Anyone try one of these?

Mr. Heater 42,000 BTU Propane Tank-Top Radiant Heater.

I think for $110 plus the tank I might try this for winter flying. Keeping your hands warm seems to be the worst part of flying in the cold weather.

IT's what I do.

Floop, if you use that heater don't stand too close to it with a rag in your pocket. Ask me how I know...

I use these to keep my hands warm,

http://www.millets.co.uk/Mens-Cloth...uct/012028.aspx

(Unfortunately they also have sewn in leathery bits that restrict their flexibility. However, these can easily be un-picked and removed)

I've also got a clear lens for my Oakley M-Frame sunglasses, these help to keep my face warn and also stop the cold wind from making my eyes water.

I too have used a radio glove, but it doesnt breathe well enough to not fog thus make the hands clammy.

I fly in 110above to 30 below with massive winds here in NoDak. The only solution ive found is to make a flight and go back into the warm field house/concession stand/hanger whatever your field offers. Heck, go back into your car and dont let the fingers get too cold, they get real slow.

I would use that Mr. Heater in an enclosed setup to warm you as a whole; when you warm one side, the other gets cold.

For the wind, Im used to it, but id use a set of cheap ski goggles, warmth and protection.

This is of course in my more extreme climate, where as NJ/TX/etc maybe a little sweater will do.

Some of us have swam when there is snow. I believe most call it a polar bear dip.. Wanna come up and try.

Bring back the rotary phone so we don't have to press "1" to proceed to ENGLIGH.

These: http://tinyurl.com/5r24od

"chemical" heater packs. Sawdust and iron powder I think. Perfectly harmless, no flame, and one of these tucked in a pants pocket will keep the chill off.

However, I must admit, my version of cold is <=40f. It wasn't until last winter that I finally broke down and purchased a winter jacket :-)

Save the money on apparel, Buy boxes and move to Florida!
Hell, the state is loaded with people from NY and NJ
The money you save in heating trades for A/C
No snow storms but the occasional Tropical Storm or Hurricane!
The money you save in state taxes will cover the insurance costs!
Just kidding.... But HEH!
You can fly year round though.....
