I have this charger and have been using it for the past few months for lipos and it seems to work good. I made some ends today so I could charge some nicads. I took a servo extension cut the end off and put on a deans connector. I have my charger set to nicad and have tried charge rates from 1a to 2a. It will only charge for 2-3 min and then cuts off. Whats the deal.

It is false peaking. You will need to update your firmware which will fix the false peaking.

You need a USB cable (purchased from Thunder Power) and download the new firmware and flash it. You can also send it back to TP for the update.

I believe the updated firmware is version 5.4

I have one with 5.1 that false peaks all the time but the one at 5.4 does well.

Firmware upgrade is/was always free. I just checked the download area and there are no firmwares for the 610. If you have no problems, don't upgrade. If you are having the false peak issue, contact TP.

If there is a posted firmware, best way to do it is to buy a USB adapter ($20 or so) and program it yourself.

It it is posted, it would be here http://thunderpowerrc.com/html/download.htm

But it is not so that means they could still be testing. Contact them and explain the false peaking.

I believe the delta on 5.1 is 10mV and 15mV for 5.4 which makes the difference. Did you set it to max?
