Guys on my trex I put infinavation dampers, metal grips and fan. I understand that the grips r fine on the K3D but do I need to change the dampers and fan etc?

The green KBDD dampeners are a definate worthwile upgrade. Kevin is now making the spacers to go in behind the dampener. They should be available real soon.
They last a real long time, and tighten the head up to make it nice and crisp.

fan

why you need to change fan ?

mine still stock standard.. and still fly's beyond my capabilities.
i fly in temps of 30 degrees C plus and thus far no issues.

As Eric said the dampners are pretty much the only weak spot and KBDD is working on a solution for them. There is no need to change the fan, it doesnt have the same flexibility the trex one did when it was made. Just complete and fly enjoy.

Guys how long do the stock dampers last? I know it depends on how hard u fly, at the moment I'm doing stuff like hurricanes, 4 point tic tocs and piro flips etc. After flying the knight on my phoenix, I'm really looking forward to flying the actual heli

My original K3d ones are a few months old now and they are loose (for me) but still alright. I damaged my ODIN dampners in the first crash so I do not have a longevity report yet for you on them. Atom Dampners are hard as hell just how I like em and so far so good

I'm flying my Knight box stock except for the white machined main gear. After 40 or so flights my dampeners are getting a little spongy, however I do fly like a crazy stick banger so that may have an effect.

depends

It also depends on the kits age. The early gen of the 3D and a run of the sports had a real hard clear damper that was like a rock or almost no damper. Thats what I have in a sport and a 3D and they are still firm as can be.

I think just about the side frame change the dampers in stock kits changed if I remember the timing of the changes.

This simply is one no upgrade needed heli for all out 3D

Cool Really looking forward to getting this heli. U guys flying the carbon or the other version? The thing I don't particularly like on the G10 version r the boom supports, wish they were similar to the trex G10 boom supports. U think those would be ok on the K3D?

Sorry I meant similar to the trex sport/G10 model boom supports.

The trex 50 sized boom supports do not fit the boom support bracket on the K3D; the ends on the trex boom supports are parallel to each other, while the K3D boom supports are 90 degrees to each other. To make the trex 50 boom supports to work, you will need to fit another boom support clamp onto the tailboom. I'm using a QUK trex 50 boom support clamp, but i had to turn it upside town to keep it from rubbing on the tail control rod on the K3D. You cannot use the horizontal fin with this clamp. So far it has been working good for me, but I did spend the time to bend the ends on the trex 50 boom supports so that they don't have any bending loads when installed. I think this setup is a bit stiffer than stock, so vibration problems may be magnified a bit. It takes weight off of the tail, which for sure helps the balance on the K3D as it is very tailheavy in stock form.

I have done the same as hornet dave, but for my ODIN, I used the QUK 50 boom clamp. It works great and I dont like horizontal fins anyway so it was the right choice for me. But like he said if you have already built your boom supports you will have to attempt to change the orientation on each of one end. Or use Trex Boom supports they are properly oriented out of the box.
