I have a dewalt pack that I am planning on cutting apart and making a 7 cell pack for my trex 600. I say 7 because I understand it is closes to a 6s lipo.

Do these packs need to have balance tabs?
How many mah should go back in when charging?
what kind of flight time can i expect?

you are going to need more than 7 cells because A123s are only 2300MAHs each. You really need at least 14 of them to do a 7S2P pack and even that is a little small at 4600mahs. You won't get quite as much run time but you can charge the packs up real quick.

I heard rumors about a 4400 mah 123 cell about 3-4 months ago. Dont know about any truth to it though.

Those might be pretty good making a 10-12S pack. You would not have to double up the cells for mah's and still get a pretty good flight time.

12S of those on a CC85HV with a kontronic motor would be a sweet setup.

edit: The only thing I see a prob is the 12amp discharge rate.
