After a lot of work I managed to configured the SiLabsUSBDriver to recognize the V-bar unit.

I added the following section in Info.plist file :

<key>Vstabi Virtual Flybar</key>
<dict>
<key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
<string>com.silabs.driver.SiLabsUSBDriver</string>
<key>IOClass</key>
<string>SiLabsUSBDriver</string>
<key>IOKitDebug</key>
<integer>0</integer>
<key>IOMatchCategory</key>
<string>SiLabsUSBSerial</string>
<key>IOProviderClass</key>
<string>IOUSBDevice</string>
<key>IOResourceMatch</key>
<string>IOKit</string>
<key>IOUserClientClass</key>
<string>SiLabsUSBUserClient</string>
<key>USB Product Name</key>
<string>Vstabi Virtual Flybar</string>
<key>bConfigurationValue</key>
<integer>1</integer>
<key>bInterfaceNumber</key>
<integer>0</integer>
<key>idProduct</key>
<integer>3985</integer>
<key>idVendor</key>
<integer>4292</integer>
</dict>

Loading the driver into kernel :

sudo kextload -v 6 -t /System/Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver.kext

Checking if the driver recognized the V-bar unit :

pilt-wlan:Contents ehaga$ ls -la /dev/cu.*
....
crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 10, 9 Nov 16 01:24 /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART
...

Starting the Vstabi software and configured it to use /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART.

I'd really like to get it to work, but I'm not sure I understand the required steps to get it to work...

for the second steps, do you do it in terminal?

First of all,

When you insert the section you have to do i right.

I have attached my file. Just move it into the correct location.

/System/Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver.kext/Contents

(You may use the following command to do it :

1. Go into the correct directory (where you have stored the attached file)

sudo cp ./Info.plist
/System/Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver.kext/Contents

(You have to type this command on one line)

Check the file for correct attributes :

In your terminal windows you go to the directory mention above, and the you type the following command :

sudo chmod 755 Info.plist
sudo chown root:wheel Info.plist

Now you could load the kernel-module (also in the terminal windows):

sudo kextload -v 6 /System/Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver.kext

With the USB-cabel connect and V-bar unit power up you can check if the driver connect to the V-bar unit :

ls -la /dev/cu.*

(Result ...)
....
crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 10, 9 Nov 16 01:24 /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART
...

Start up you Vstabi software and tell it to use /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART

Regards

Go to the VSTABI website, they have easy, step by step instructions that I used to make mine work with my MAC.

Well, neither of those worked... I'm not sure what instructions you're seeing Zaaaguy, would be nice to see a link.

I'm using a usb v-stabi, btw, with the metal casing. I've used it running virtual pc, but it sucks. I don't think I'm doing the steps correctly Erik, especially as I had to look up my unix codes just to move around terminal...

Go to this website and search forum for my posts under Zaaaguy72, you will see a post regarding my MAC experience, it is very easy to do, but you do need access to a pc for the initial setup, after that, it is all MAC baby!

Well, now I think I'm a bit screwed. I initially tried Erik's work, but it didn't seem to work, and I went to try Zaaguy's, but not virtual pc says another application is using the usb, and that I have to close that app, but nothing is running ( and I restarted).

So... now I can't use the usbxpress, or just use v-stabi on the virtual pc.

awesome.

I don't know what is going on, sounds strange. I only used the directions found on the Vstabi website and everything worked good. I would ask any questions you have on the Vstabi forum as those guys are the most knowledgeable. There are quite a few guys who use MAC there.

It works! Thanks to Erik, and a lot of me fumbling, we got it to work. Basically seemed to be unix didn't like my lack of password ( although I said my logon required one,) and after I set a password, it worked. only took a lot of emails, and trying it about a billion ways.

now I have to figure out helicopter problems! The trim on helicopter was very far off these past few flights, I erased old v-bar software, and went to new setup. I adjust my subtrim on tx, to make sure it read all 0 on display in the vstabi software. swash was level, but after I hit finish setup, the swashplate leaned over. Why does this happen? I tested it, and it happened with ultra, extended, and simple...

After the subtrim adjustments, did you reset the Vbar unit? Also re-bind the tx and rx (if you fly Spektrum)...........Ron
