Hi,

I'm about to extend the boom for 690mm blades.

Just deciding how to do it and here is my question.

Any problems with running a 20mm boon with .8mm wall thickness. Not only will this save weight the main frame will easily be interchangeable with my 500 if I so wish.

Will the belt interfere? I'm thinking not as the 500 is fine.

Thanks,

MJ

with a boom and belt that long, yes it will snag, that is to small for this width of belt, the 600+ belt is wider than 500 and the length will allow a sag and will catch for certain, must be 25mm OD.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

Thanks, I wasn't sure about the belt width as I am waiting for the kit to arrive. I will order a suitable 25mm boom.

Thanks,

I have a belt hopefully from my local bearing supplier will find out on Monday. I'm going to use a Vario boom just as I don't want other brand decal on it like I think the Raptor has.

I have a new 6003D V-bar kit on order so should be here mid next week :-)

Just ordered a Scorpion 4035-560/15T for the 12s conversion.

Ok I can get a belt locally and they are made to order so I am thinking of having a slightly longer one than 770 to swing 703 Maniacs. What minimum length do you think I need to be right on? They also said that a 770XL is over the recommended length for that pitch. How are others out there holding up?

Is this a 770xl/385 belt?

I asked for the 770XL which they spec'd up and said it was over the recommended length for the pitch but were still happy to supply it. Just wondering how they are holding up and as they make it to order I could order a slightly longer one to accommodate some Maniac 703 blades I have.

Be careful as the 770XL is also known by gates as 335XL, its 77" circumference total.

Use the 25MM boom. You might be better using the 690MM with 105MM tail otherwise the 703 might be a tad long.

All sorted and purchased a 788XL and a Vario 25mm boom so that should take care of everything. Thanks for all of your input.

I ended up buying it from Bozzlu off runryder. He has several for sale and is happy to post to UK. You can get them made locally but there is a minimum order and at least £30 each so I thought I would try these first.
