Audacity Models Pantera 50 - Tiger 50 > web site details

As I get time I am working on adding website details. Here's an example, which is for our nifty training gear. Ultimately, all products will have a photo and a description (though obviously they won't all be as elaborate as the one for the training gear because it's usually not necessary). Anyway, what do you folks think?

Honestly JB, it's a little wordy, the same thing could be accomplished with a few bullet points and a picture (which there isn't a detailed pic of what you get on that page). If I were in the market for training gear, I would have just stopped reading after the 100th word, and said F-it. Even trying to read it to provide you feedback, I couldn't make it even half way through.

It's like Billy Mays trying to sell training gear. People aren't going to get the info they want out of something like that, they are just going to be confused. If you want a long wordy description, either make a link to a beginner white paper, or at the very least give us a bulleted list of features, a nice picture of what it is at the top, then give us War and Peace on training gear. That way the novel is optional for those who do or don't want to read it.

Wordy but considering training gear is aimed at beginers the more info the better. Although,I am one of the sickos that will read a manual cover to cover. Also as you said most won't be as elaborate. I like the picture and brief description. Enough typing for me though I think I will go fly in the snow. Its time for winter flying up here.

That is a lot more detail than I would expect.

Could add a disclaimer like this though:

Caution: Training gear has been known to cause the helicopter to experience violent oscillations when the wiffle balls start bouncing in the main rotor wash.

The idea is . . .

The "cut to the chase" version consists of the captions, which are in red text.

The "tell me everything" version is the black text.

Remember, I am trying to serve two masters here, i.e. both the expert and the novice. Anyway, I'm wide open for ideas, which don't serve out one at the expense of the other, or add a lot to my workload!

Also, are the pictures coming through?

I agree that the wording is a bit much...after the 2nd paragraph you started to loose my attention. I think that a few sentences about the description and some key features to the item sould be good to grab the buyers attention, then you can always create a data sheet for the product... a .PDF maybe ? that has more detailed data and information.

Pictures are not showing up.....that also may be why the wording may seem to be long. The links are trying to access the images that are on your local computer or server....

file:///K:/My%20Documents/Product%20Photos/PDR%20Parts/

Here is an example of what I think is a good layout...

Contains: Product details, Features and additional links to more information

First Sentence:

"Did you know you could make your own training gear with some whiffle balls, wooden dowels, and a block of wood?"

You may have just shot yourself in the foot by providing a training gear recipe to the typical DIYer.

But I agree with what's being said about the excess verbiage. Way TMI (Too much Information) for this product. Really does prove you can type John (how's the carpel tunnel?) but the advantages of the reason for purchasing this item are lost. 'Bullet Points', a great suggestion and should let the key features show up-front and instantly. Honestly, the current text looks like something I would have composed

Edit: Reread the description with a focus specifically on the red text, and it's better but could use some hard polish. It's tough to do something like this but short and sweet with key advantages will look best.

The expert won't require much detail.
I think you are thinking too much like an engineer and less like a marketer.
Take a step back and realize that this is training gear not a complicated piece of machinery.

A picture is worth a thousand words. People want to see what they are buying. A better detailed picture of the gear would be great.

I did also notice that the words "ProModeler Training Gear" is used in every paragraph except for the first. May be a bit much.

I am getting the main pic. but the ones above the red text are not showing up. Also if I click on the main pic. it opens a window for the pic. but it is still the same size.

Way too much detail. You lost me after the first paragraph. We're going from a website with no words and no pictures to an infomercial format and still not really a good picture of the item being sold.

I think it's a bit long since it just "training gear", But not so long ago when I really didn't know anything about heli's I would have spent a lot of time surfing to find just that kind of info and chatter about a product before I bought it.

Unfortunately, it didn't come across that way to me, and after the first paragraph or so I wasn't reading any more. How about making the red text appear at the top as a bulleted list, then have the rest of it.

As for pics, no the only one that's coming through is the one at the top with the Pantera hovering with the training gear on.

I agree, when finding out about something new, I want to read all about it. But when it comes from a site trying to sell you something, doesn't it make your BS detector go off?

For sure. But at same time I just kind of assume most of what I read is BS anyway. I'd rather sort though a sales pitch than have no info at all.

While I do most of my heli related buying online, I still like to touch and feel, really get to look at something before I buy it. Not being able to do that online I think the detailed pics and explanations of a product help to sell. Or at least it does for me.

It was way too wordy. I used the training gear and it is a great product. It saves money for a new pilot! The introduction has to be only few sentences with couple of good pictures, then list of features. After all that it makes sense to have an explanation on how to use the training gear and why it is so good / better than the competition.
