Got Jet Fuel? Turbine Helicopters > JETCAT FUEL PUMPS ????

I have been reliably told that you should replace your jetcat fuel pump after only 15hrs,

I think this in correct and makes flying a jetcat well expensive!!
i am on average doing 5 tanks on a saturday 3 on a sunday and maybe a couple through the week....
that is expensive, and i personally could not afford to be spending £100.00 every 9 weeks, that amounts to £600.00 per year just to fly without including your fuel.. and other bits...

Can anyone else afford that ? or is it just me ?

What do you think?

Hi Matt,

the Jetcat is a very reliable engine.I think that is over kill for sure . That would place a lot of people thinking on not Even thinking of buying a jetcat engine, if that was true! Besides i talked to jetcat about this . Some one likes to spread things about Jetcat that is not correct whats so ever. Keep flying Matt, more power to you. I fly mine likes crazy no problems here! PS I would like to see some one give me facts and documentation about this being so true. I don't think so.

Only 15 hours on a pump!!! Bloody Hell! You should get a Wren one, mine has 150hours on it and the other one has 40hours. Mind you, they are probably not compatable. I would have spent £1300 just on fuel pumps, that's nearly another engine. Sorry Matt I don't want to upset you but if that is correct then it's pathetic.....

how does the pump fail? i know its the pump/aluminium part that wears and not the motor. doesnt the pump voltage start increasing? if you monitor the average pump voltage after each flight, will it start increasing when its starting to fail. will this act as an indicator? or is it working today then broken tomorrow?

do you get any warning?

This pump thing is a joke complete joke this has gotten me a little concerned. So i have done some homework especially with the vendor that builds this pump ! I have looked into this pump with very close personnel regards and from my research on this pump failing like it has been mentioned is completely false . The pump on a Wren, jet engine is just as good as one on a jetcat.

thanks Guys

that is what i thought, it was another thread somone who is an expert said it was cheap insurance to replace them every 15hrs, i said that was total crap and owuld make flying a jetcat well expensive, and he put me down as always saying i know nothing and dont have enough experience. It is clear from all your comments that indeed it was... rubbish and scare mongering and ill informed info...

i also rung jetcat today and spoke to Max and said what had been printed on here he said that was wrong information...

Mine is now 22hrs...J/C
