| I had a similar thought, also went copterX. With a few flights on I've managed to crack both upper frames (alum edition), I'm guessing due to the torque of the Scorpion hk2221-6.
I decided I wanted to see what all the hooray was about with align, without spending the change. Really, the money all goes into electronics, and even a nice kit will be like arse with arse electronics.
Also, CopterX is missing bearings that align uses, and I've found two frame holes that are shifted. No big deal, just have to replace the upper half sides together (I needed to anyway)
To really answer the question, I'm betting if not 100% the same, all the key components you typically replace will be, so you should be safe.
