I am after a new electric heli to teach me aerobatics. It seems either a blade 400 or trex will run me up over $500.00 either way. But I don't want to have to spend a whole lot. I saw a few trex clones on ebay. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with the quality of these kits? One particular kit I am interested in is called a "Flasher" http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-FLASHER-450S...1QQcmdZViewItem

This kit listed on ebay states all Trex parts are compatible. Does that mean I could replace aluminum with plastic parts from a Trex 450sa??

Thanks

I would buy the kit, which I know was same quality as Align, just under a different name, mines was Copter X, issue free to a year and very smooth. Electronics, I am not sure. But for that price, what the hack, just go for it, but thoroughly test it and fly in open areas, till you can trust the electronics.

I had a similar thought, also went copterX. With a few flights on I've managed to crack both upper frames (alum edition), I'm guessing due to the torque of the Scorpion hk2221-6.

I decided I wanted to see what all the hooray was about with align, without spending the change. Really, the money all goes into electronics, and even a nice kit will be like arse with arse electronics.

Also, CopterX is missing bearings that align uses, and I've found two frame holes that are shifted. No big deal, just have to replace the upper half sides together (I needed to anyway)

To really answer the question, I'm betting if not 100% the same, all the key components you typically replace will be, so you should be safe.

ginnz and all other members:

Where did you get the Flasher 450 as a kit? And, what other items would I need?

I flew nitro and gas helis from 1999 to 2005 and left the hobby because I was too busy. I'm now getting back into the hobby and want to go electric and keep things simpler and repair costs lower.

So, I have lots of heli experience and was an intermediate to advanced pilot. However, electric is all new to me and will be a learning curve - it seems very technical. Any advice you and all other members have would be great.

My long time heli buddy is just getting back in and bought an E-Flite 400. I'm not real impressed with it.

If you need to give supplier details via PM, that's fine.

Thanks in advance,
Scott
