The Jefferson City Radio Club is proud to host the 2nd Annual Helicopter Fly-In on Sept. 20th, 2008.

Event Details: Beginners to 3D Flyers welcomed

Where: Joseph E. Miller Memorial Field
Jefferson City, Mo

Directions: Take Hwy 50 West and exit at the Apache Flats exit. Go approx. 1.25 miles and turn right(North) onto Binder Park Road. Turn right(East) on Rainbow Drive. Go up the hill and the entrance to the field is on your right.

Open Flying:9:15AM to Whenever we quit

Lunch will be served: BBQ Ribs and trimmings

We had a Great turnout last year with 20 pilots and hope to beat that number this year. We were fortunate to have a National Guard Huey and crew visit for several hours last year. We are working on a return visit if the logistics can be worked out.

Our flying field has a 550 foot paved runway with grass areas at either end. No electricity other than gas generators. Go to our website and view the event Flyer and last years photos in the Gallery.

We are still working on the full scale coming in again this year. We have not gotten the commitment from the powers to be yet. We are hoping that we will be able to get one. Hope you can make it.

We are starting to get some good door prizes sent our direction for the Fun Fly. It also sounds really promising that we will have a National Guard heli and crew about mid day. Not sure what type of helicopter at this time.

The flying field is just across the road from a campground operated by the City Parks. They do not allow campers at the flying field. Let me know if I can help you find a place to park for the night.

Full-Scale Visit Confirmed!

It's confirmed! We're expecting a visit by a full-scale National Guard Kiowa!

The OH-58 Kiowa is a single-engine, single-rotor, observation and light attack helicopter manufactured by Bell Helicopter and originally based on the company's 206A JetRanger helicopter. The Kiowa has been in continuous use by the United States Army since its introduction in 1968.

He'll be arriving around 10:15 so plan to get to the field before 10:00 if you want to see him fly in.
