Ryan:

Sorry for the delay answering. If you go to the website, you will get the information as it is received, Ken keeps the website pretty much up-to-date at least on a weekly basis.

Otherwise go here: http://www.clearviewfield.com/CEfest.htm for a direct link to the E-Fly page.

Edit: Yes, there are photos of the empty Expo Hall in the E-Fly page.

Oh, man talk about a huge building!!!

Guys: I was able to visit the building where the E-fly is going to take place. This place is huge! I had the opportunity to visit E-Fest last February and the Armory building is less than half of what this building is. It was a little hard to appreciate the space, as there was an event going on while we visited, but the scale can be appreciated when we went to the observation booth on the second floor. Sorry I don't have any additional pictures.

Ken and the rest of the staff are working hard to make this the best E-event in the mid-west.

According to the preliminary plan, there will be 4 flight areas. One for helicopters, one for 3D planes, one for mini / peanut, and one for regular airplane flying. All 4 areas will be independent of each other. There will be access for pilots with badges and spectators with passes at 3 different locations around the building. There will be electrical power within 100 ft of almost every pilot table. I also had a chance to see the proposed trophies for the competition portion and if they accept them I tell you that they will be one of a kind. The plan for the vendors and booths include flight simulators and audio-visual presentations. I can't tell you much more because I don't have the list of vendors/sponsors yet.

So pencil in this event on your calendar, and make every effort to spend the weekend with us in Wichita. You'll be glad you did.

We were able to go to the building one more time to discuss layout and to fly for a little. Here are a few of the pictures taken:

If you are a vendor, and are interested in having a booth for this event you better act fast. Give Ken a call or e-mail at 316-680-5239; email ken@clearviewfield.com to discuss the details.

Last week we had the opportunity to participate at another expo at the same building, the Century II in Wichita. A big thank you goes to Scott Glasgow and Brandon Chitty for keeping the crowd entertained for the whole day. The area reserved for us at this event was about 60 x 60 ft and there was more than ample space for those two guys to do some amazing stuff. Here are some pictures:

Some of he highlights include: several blade scuffs on a Trex 450, and a Trex 500; an unexpected tangle with the backdrop curtain that took a Trex 450 out of commission, hanging a foamy airplane on the rafters of the building, and several less than soft landings that left some of the foamies with motors hanging by the motor leads.

This promises to be a great event, Ken, his family and friends always put on excellent events. I am supposed to get pictures of the trophies in a few days, I will post them on here too when I get them.

Hope to see you there!

Hi Rafael,

What is the biggest aircraft/heli (size and weight), that you guys will be allowing? Have been looking through your info, but didn't find it.

I know a Logo 10 would probably not be allowed, but If I was to make it into a '400'.....(similar to a 'rex500)??

I got asked a very similar question on another forum, so here is the answer, I hope will help.

Typical indoor type aircraft. Park flyers should be able to be flown too. There are no official restrictions, but safety will be top priority as there will be spectators in the premises (spectators defined as people without the knowledge of the danger potential of RC aircraft).

Of course, everything electric. A Trex 500 has been successfully flown in the building, inside of a 60' x 60' area, on the hands of a very experienced pilot. The flying area set aside for helicopters is easily 2-3 times that space. So a Trex 500 should be able to be flown easily.

OK, thanks! I know at a lot of indoor events I've read about in the past, it always seemed the T450 was the limit for helis.

Of course, safety being of utmost concern, if one of the pilot station attendants feels that a pilot does not have full control over a larger bird, they will politely ask that pilot to go back to the pilot's tables and get something smaller.

The helicopter flying area will be fairly close to the spectators area. There will be a net between th flying area and the spectators, but we are responsible for the safety of everybody inside the building.
