Howdy Franz

Do I know you? lol

Yes I did get it from Marty at Redneck RC. Great bunch of guys there and very knowledgable with the best personalized service I have found. 219.00 not to bad of price either, same as everywhere but no shipping :0) Let me know if you grab one and we'll hook up to fly around and compare setups :0)

Mark,
You do know me; met me at Marty's about a month ago on a Friday afternoon. Also, I saw you at the Armory at the Saturday sale and fly event. Marty had some pretty good prices on his products there, and I agree he's an all around good guy. Did you solve the overheating problem with the ESC? How's the quality of the heli otherwise?(A question of everyone with the Cypher) I usually get down to Fulton on Sunday. I joined the AMA too, so I'll be flying at The field in Fulton this summer too. Ciao...Franz

I thought this was you -- lol

Well she went out for some pretty agressive foward flight only. Nothing to fancy as I cant lol but I had er tilted almost 90 degress and pumped it-- flew great and quite responsive. Doesnt like to come down as quick as it goes up :0)

I am totally unhappy with the esc, it doesnt appear to have a LVC --(low voltage cutoff) -- I noticed a bit of power loss and by the time I could land -- 45 seconds -- the battery wouldnt lift its own weight and it tipped over -- fortunataly far from full headspeed :0)-- only breaking a pitch link (hope Marty ordered parts). All in all the heli seems awsome out of the box. I am gonna swap out to an align ESC and see what comes of it :0)

Greetings,
Hmmm,so what's a good time to get out of the cells? I haven't really timed my CP Pro, but I guess it probably isn't much more that five or six minutes. I know that I can be easily fooled when guessing such things. I'll have to time it. Good luck with the new ESC.. let me know how you make out. I was wondering if the overheating ESC is a problem. Do you think that it's just wasting battery power, or are you concerned that it might damage the ESC? Or, maybe both? What is a soft cutoff?

Time will vary on amp draws and motor consumption etc -- average seems to be in the 7 - 9 mins of aggressive flight and closer to 10 just flying around. A soft cut off is one that will slowly drop the throttle when discharging and still leave the servos functional :0) Hard cut off -- motors stops when its done lol

IMO stock esc's dont usually pull the grain and its something to get ya started. I am totally unhappy with the esc and will be popping the align in soon :0) There was no warning -- I noticed a slight drag in throttle and started my decent from 20' was completely dead 2 feet from the ground. tipped over slightly and broke a flybar arm so parts ordered :0)

Markus

I think you should grab up the one Marty has and by then I'll have it all figure out :0) j/k -- from what i have flown of it it was a very very nice flying bird :0)

hi

you must be using larger than 2100 - 2200 mah packs to get 7 to 9 min of 3d flight,,,,, also using an external bec on all electric helis is highly recomended,,, why would you put the align esc as a replacement ,, that esc is junk too...

Opinions are like -- well you know the saying lol

I have 5 of these aligns runing and never had a rpoblem with nay of em. 7 minutes is more like it but if you maintence your heli right you can honestly gain a minute of flight be making sure no binding and lubed where needed. I dont do 3d :0) Just heavy throttle punching hehehehe

Markus

PS I using an electrifly 2100mah

hi

if you have to get a new esc i would spend the money and get a scorpion ,, or spend a little more and get a jazz,,, also ,, run a 2 amp medusa bec,,,

Why would you want to run a BEC with a Jazz on only 3S? The built in Jazz BEC is the best there is and is supposedly good for up to 6S.

I've been running a 4S/Jazz 40-6-18/3000kv motor/HS-65/GY-401/digital tail servo equipped T-Rex for two years now and have never had a problem.

hi

more or less a safety feature,, if the esc should ever burn out ,you would still at least have control of the servos,,,i'm building a 450v2 for a customer right now and they are using the jazz with a bec too,, not nessary but prefrence

To do what??? Watch your swashplate twitch to and fro while the heli ragdolls?

These size helis auto like $_it when you plan it much less an unplanned one. No thanks, I'll save the weight, cost and complexity and take my chances on the built in Jazz BEC like just about everything else in life.

hi

true,, they are expensive bricks and drop like they have no blades,, plus you got a good esc,, alot of esc's have only a 5v output also so a bec can offer the 6v output,,,

Yeah... 6v output is nice. I've never measured what the Jazz is putting out.

In any case, I was seriously gonna pull the trigger on one of these Cyphers. I've got a full set of gear from another heli I don't want to mess with anymore. But, I just saw the new AH-1 Cobra fuse TT is coming out with for the Mini-Titan and have decided thats the route I'm going. Wouldn't mind a nice scale ship to play around with.
