Looking forward to it!

Wow, 83 pilots...that's more than the 66 registered pilots at the gathering in NJ this past weekend. Guess the weather put a damper on that one, hoping for a day like today for the 495th event!

Will bring my gassers to fill the sky and the little one (450) maybe for a night flight if I'm there that long!

Jim, I'll give you a call, it looks like I'll be making my up as well. I keep hearing what a great event you put on! Love to help keep everyone flying.

I'll admit I'm not a great pilot, but I can hover with the best of them.

Night flying it is!

I got my little 450 so after some hours in the air with the gassers I'll spend an hour in the air with the 450 :-)

Looking forward to it, hope the weather is best behaved!

And you may not see Jeremy for a long time

He's a hobby shop owner now, no time to go flying regularly any more...I'd say if you want to see him your best bet is to come to the Phenomenon, sure he'll be there selling stuff at the event.

A BIG thank you guys!

Just want to take a moment to say THANK YOU for the excellent hospitality inviting us to fly and share the field with you not to mention all the free food and drinks! You guys are an awesome bunch -- had a good time and it was great to see you all again.

The most interesting event of the day was the guy that got confused flying inverted, rolled it out of the sky in a dive. Recovered to level at the last minute but it SLAMMED into the tall grass with a whack, then it bounced up 5 feet blades spinning seemingly unharmed. Somehow either he dropped collective of it came back down as he thought it was crashed and quit flying it, and it came back down tail first and did a boom strike when he hit the grass again. If only he had given full collective when it got back in the air after the initial impact, it would have been a great save!

For the night flying, jctpro had a raptor 50 with two LED flashlights on the skids plus light string and light up tail blades and main blades. The led flashlights were so bright it looked like an approaching plane in the sky as he turned towards us. A couple of times he did a nose down funnel and the lights were shining a spot on the runway as he went around. It was really cool!

Thanks again guys for the good times and looking forward to seeing you again in Mansfield in a couple of weeks!

Thank You Raja for coming all the way up to our field. While the weather didnt completly cooperate, we did get some flying in in the afternoon. It ended up being a great day to do setups and there were three or 4 guys who needed thier helis gone thru from scratch.
I got a chance to work on three of them, used the Dx6 and Dx6i so now I have some more experience with those guys and refresher on the ideal way to setup mechanical bottom up theory (thanks Dave for the reminders)

Thanks the Jim who was the CD for the event. Would not have happened without the help of Jim, Dave, Toni, Bill and a few others whos names escape me.

The club really did an impressive job despite the weather being only 1/2 cooperative.

Lots of pilots went home learing tips about setting up and so this in itself was a huge success. lets face it, 10 heli guys sitting around waiting on the rain to stop, were dying to help setup the other guys helis.

We will hope for much better weather next year, looks like maybe a new CD for the event Who knows and maybe (I'm thinking) a spring event as opposed to a fall event?

There was no raffle so a Trex600 might be purchased by the club or ? built up for a trainer We can dream can't we?

Jim you lookiing at this? I move we adopt this Trex as a learing tool for any heli pilot looking to practive hover. What a great tool and the chance to have something unique to again show out standout club.

10 heli guys with 40 bucks ought to do it,
Just one of a few thoughts I have about it. Hey we could even do up the canopy to advertise the vendor(s) like Bills Hobby Barn?
Now its looking more interesting isnt it

Hi Guys,

I am working on getting a donated heli to put together for a club trainer. This is going to have to be a grass roots things because I cant count on the club helping out with the cost. I can put together an 8103, a gyro and servo, and a muffler for a 30 or 50. I would need to get a frame and an engine, maybe some servos. My thinking is I could bring this to the club whenever I go. If someone wants to learn I can teach them to hover (safely) with little or no damage. I have done this before for several people its just that they owned the heli and I simply worked with them to get them started. This idea is something I have come up with in the past day. It might be a pipe dream, but my thought is , what club do you know that can provide a trainer heli ?
This might be a great way to interest people who want to lear, but do not want to spend the money until they see how much fun it can be. I dont have a ton of hope if getting this idea into a reality, and I am tossing this idea out and around to see if there is a need for this kind of thing. What do you think?

I remember you by the way, Dr1. Chuck here.
