Anyone have one of these? $320 at helihobby.

All metal head? it sounds too good to be true.

I'd avoid HeliHobby due to their customer service issues. Just buy direct from the US distributor at www.helicopterhobbies.com. Tell Harold that Calvin sent you to him. He'll take good care of you. He also sells the heli for $299. I just picked up a package from him last week with a A30-10L, Quark ESC, Medusa BEC, and carbon blades. The quality is very good and the heli went together with the typical Japanese precision.

I second cnk's comments. I have the expert version (blue in color) and really love it. Harold at helicopterhobbies.com is top knotch. They do not come any better than he. There are some build pics of the expert version in my gallery. By the way, Harold has changed the name of this heli from EP8 to QJ8.

Also of note is that there are new versions of the heli. What Henry is referring to as the Expert version was basically the same heli as the Sportsman, but with blue anodizing and upgraded tail components. Both versions are now no longer made. The new Sportsman is basically the old Sportsman/Expert version with upgraded tail components and is available only in silver. The new Expert version is not available yet and won't be until April/May of 2006 as they are still designing the head for that heli.

I went by helicopterhobbies the other day and flew Harold's QJ8. I was thoughly impressed. The heli is as stable as most 30's easily. It's also very quiet. I don't think it was any louder than my Hornet. I can't remember if he was using a 3 or 4 cell pack, but you could easily get 10 min out of the pack and it was only set up for 70% total throttle. What amazed me was that the blades were just slightly out of track and the thing didn't even wobble. Also, Harold told me he had put his in 3 times and all that he had to replace was the main shaft and spindle. I don't see how anyone that bought one could ever be dissapointed.

Steve at www.dreamhobbies.com as well as www.robinshobby.com sells these kits as well as Heli Hobby. Harold Little is not the only importer or dealer for these products. Take a look at www.ep-8.com. I think this guy is another importer.

I guess you can buy them from where you want. Helicopterhobbies is mentioned so often because he gets the job done for the customer. And I'm not saying the other sources don't. I do know that he was the sole importer when he started this a year or so ago, because I had many conversations with Harold and Quick in Japan to try to get this model represented in the states. I'm sure there could be other importers now.
